My name is Christiana, and I am the photographer behind ChatelainePhotography. Ever since I was a tiny child I have loved nature and the outdoors. I didn’t like to play with dolls much, but would rather take my plastic animals out into the backyard to let my imagination flow among the grass. Summers were marked by dusty bare feet, tanned skin, and camping trips to various parks, mostly in the mountains.

Growing older, I discovered that I could transfer this love of fresh air and wide mountains vistas onto a photo. I was hooked, and a new passion was born. I purchased my first camera in 2007, and advanced point-and-shoot with a wide lens. I loved capturing everything I could on there, mostly often natural subjects. I also discovered Worth1000 shortly after. W1K is a website that holds (among other things) photography contests.

I entered some of my beginner photos and received great constructive criticism and tips to make my shots better. I’m really grateful that some nice people who didn’t know me, took the time to try to help out a newbie. Since 2010, I work with a Nikon D5000 DSLR, but I still enter contests on W1k, because I firmly believe that I will never be good enough to stop learning and evolving as an artist.

My passion remains firmly rooted in landscapes and nature photography, but I have dabbled with candid photography and even a wedding. I also enjoy music immensely, and in addition to singing I play piano, trumpet, and recently the harp as well. 1. Gld to meet ya and thanks for subscribing! Sounds like we’re on a very similar journey. 🙂 I just shot a wedding last night as the second shooter with a friend of mine who recently started her own photography business. I tell ya, there’s no pressure shooting weddings when you’re not the one being paid! haha. Good luck with your photography! Have you considered joining Flickr? Jenn

    1. Thanks for the comment! I love following your blog, it gives me great insights. I haven’t joined Flickr yet, but I will in the near future. I was the only photographer for this wedding (they were friends of mine) and it was the first wedding that I ever did. It’s such a scary and humbling experience. I can’t wait to do another one! I learned so much from this last one, that I would love to do another just to improve. I would like, however, not to be the main photographer so I can feel free to just “mess around.” I now know what I wouldn’t do again, wouldn’t be without, and would do more of the next time.

  2. I’m sure that’s probably the best way to learn, although not the most fun. 🙂 Mind sharing some of your insights? I’m curious about what you did and what you’d do differently!
